It’s time to address the elephant in the room and hit the nail right on the head. Mental illness is often something that is avoided or misunderstood in various cultures. Although the cultural acceptance of psychotherapy has risen among American minorities, statistics show that we are still reluctant to seek counseling out of fear of being deemed “crazy” or out of the norm. Please note that although these misbeliefs are common, they are not reflective of the black community as a whole.
