We are all capable of birthing greatness. It all starts with an idea sustained through passion and dedication. It may not happen overnight but that dream you’ve been working on will become something that the entire world will truly benefit from. Don’t just trust me, trust your dopeness.

Have faith. Sounds simple, right? Well I’m here to tell you that thinking positively is only half of the battle. You have to believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that you are here to fulfill a purpose that is bigger than yourself and current circumstances.

We are individually unique as they come but still share the human experience. So as we learn together, let’s continue to grow together! Legacy Speaks is your hub for today’s trends, local and national resources, and professional success strategies.

Living Life Creating Waves
  1. My name is Sierra and I’m the Founder of Legacy Speaks.

Serial Achiever. Music Connoisseur. Part-Time Hippie.

I created this platform – OUR platform – to promote mental health awareness and self-development.

When not helping people become a better version of themselves, you can find me doing everything from volunteering and advocacy to trap yoga and hiking. I live life as an endless adventure and make every second count.

  2. The Oxygen of My Soul

I became passionate about mental health and personal development after witnessing how crucial these areas of our lives are. Helping people overcome such hardships is what I live for.

To break sociocultural stigmas regarding mental health issues, I created Legacy Speaks. Our platform focuses on increasing awareness of mental health issues, creating conversations with marginalized communities, and increasing access to local and national resources by advocating for BOTH equality and equity.

  3. A Learning Journey That Never Ends

I graduated from the University of South Florida (Go Bulls! ???) double majoring in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Psychology. Two years later, I went on to acquire my Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Georgia.

Today, I make it a top priority to stay up to date in my field through professional organizations, conferences, continuing education sessions, and journals.

  4. The Road to Professional Counseling

After having a post-graduate crisis, I relocated to metro-Atlanta to start a career in the entertainment industry. I was blessed to work with some of the biggest names and companies to include TVOne, BMI, AspireTV, Dreamworks, (just to name a few).

Despite being so successful at what I did, something was missing. I wanted that sense of fulfillment that comes only helping others. I took a leap of faith and began working towards my true passion, which is becoming a licensed professional counselor.

  5. Sierra Hillsman, M.Ed., APC, NCC – but what does that all mean?

Simply put: I have acquired the National Certified Counselor credential through NBCC as well as the Associate Professional Counselor licensure.

I’m not going to lie, although it took a lot of hard work to earn them, none of this matter if I’m not capable of doing my job effectively as a counselor.

So just in case you were wondering, I have experience in individual and group counseling in the areas of anger management, assertiveness training, challenging irrational beliefs, substance abuse, and emotional and psychological trauma.

  6. What I work hard to achieve.

    Every. Single. Day.

I’m a world changer. My number one goal in life is to create a lasting legacy that inspires growth and development.

One person at a time – that’s how I’m changing the world. I want to influence the culture by empowering others to live their lives with passion and purpose. This is not just a goal, this is how I live my life.
